LifeSpace Design is a Feng Shui practice providing both residential and commercial consultations. Regardless of the space, the principles of Feng Shui are the same:
Our environment is not only 'alive' but a direct reflection of who we are and how we are currently living our lives. It is actually a 'mirror' that reflects who we are. This image holds a distinct energy or 'chi' and can either be positive or negative. It has a direct influence on us, thus either supporting or inhibiting our goals in life. Once the external environment has been changed it opens the pathways for internal transformation leading to the realization of a more successful journey in life. Feng Shui is a natural earth science that reveals how people are affected by their immediate surroundings and its core philosophy states mankind must live in harmony with the environment. The spaces we inhabit can affect a person's mood, which can influence behavior, which in turn can determine the success of a person's personal and professional relationships, prosperity and overall well-being. I often work with the furnishings you have, always honoring your possessions and preference in style. First and foremost we want to assess the path of energy flow. Does it welcome the occupants and create a calm tranquil space or does the energy come directly in the front door and exit quickly out the window or another door, or are there stagnant areas filled with clutter? Next, does your environment contain the five elements? These are fire, earth, metal, water and wood and may be represented by different colors, shapes, or materials. The five elements are considered the building blocks of everything physical on earth and are represented in numerous ways around us. Human beings are a manifestation of all five elements and are therefore most comfortable when their living and working space reflects a combination of all the elements. Lastly, is there a balance of yin and yang in your space? And do you see your furnishings and possessions as a reflection of 'who you are today' or who you want to become? By using a combination of color, the five elements, artwork and furniture placement, our environment can be changed to directly support the life we want to live. Living and working in a home or business that follows Feng Shui principles often leads to more rewarding relationships, an improvement in health and an increase in one's prosperity.
